Area Description

Bastille, an old Parisian district, is marked by the history of France and the Revolution.
Today, besides being a place that holds remnants of the past, it is one of the most lively, busy districts in the capital. A young and lively district With its restaurants, cafés, and its opera house, Place de la Bastille is the heart of the district. Faubourg Saint-Antoine and Rue de la Roquette, which lead from the Bastille intersection are two of the oldest roads in Paris. Place de la Bastille was constructed on the foundations of the old Bastille fortress and prison, both destroyed during the Revolution.

The Bastille district often hosts fairs, markets, and concerts. It is known for its many cosmopolitan cafés, bars, restaurants, and its night clubs. It is the perfect place for brunch, a drink on the terrace or a night out with friends. The streets are particularly lively in the evening and on the weekends and the restaurants stay open late. A famous square marked by the history of France Only a few vestiges of the pre-revolutionary era are still visible in Bastille metro station or in Square Henri-Galli. A special design in the paving marks out the contours of the fortress in the current Place de la Bastille. In the middle of the square, the monumental 1840 Colonne de Juillet (July Column) celebrates the overturn of the monarchy of Charles X. Opposite the metro station stands the Opéra Bastille. This modern opera house, opened in 1989, contrasts sharply with the surrounding architecture. As for nature, tourists enjoy long strolls along the Port de l'Arsenal, linking the Canal Saint-Martin to the Seine, or the tree-lined promenade starting at the opera house.

An easy-going neighborhood, Bastille metro station is one of the busiest in the capital. It provides access to all four corners of the city via metro lines 1, 5, and 8. In this neighborhood, you’ll find everything you need: grocery stores, restaurants, supermarkets, newsstands, and other local businesses.

A very comfortable apartment indeed which made our Paris stay much pleasant. Both the kitchen and living room are very functional, so the space available is taken to good use, and everything you need to make a good meal is in the kitchen. The bedroom window is facing a back yard so it's quiet. The bathroom is very good indeed with a big shower and a bathtub. The apartment is close to much of what Paris has to offer including the Marais. And if your destination is further away you have a good number of transportation offers in the nearest area. Would recommend to friends.
